While Answering questions from Journalists in Abuja on what Nigerians should expect from the 9th Senate, he noted that the Upper legislative would be well disposed to the vision and policy directions of the executive arm of government particularly the presidency.
He added “being a senate with populated members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be on the same page with the executive arm of government in driving the business of governance and not antagonistic in any form.
Lawan, who was the candidate of APC for the Senate President in 2015, said: “We thank God we went for the election and we won. And not only the victory, the party gained more seats than we clung in 8th Senate. This will bring the required synergy between the Senate and by extension the National Assembly with the executive arm of government, particularly the Presidency.
The Senate this time will be of positive disposition to the aspirations and policy directions of the executive. Our prayer is that oil price in the international market should gain increase than it is now. And even daily oil production should shut from 1.9million to the projected 2.3 million in the 2019 budget so that the executive can rake in projected revenue for a friendly National Assembly to give the required Appropriation.
“In all, the 9th Senate and as well as the 9th National Assembly will be will be on the same page with the executive in the next level agenda that will be characterized with robust and smooth business of governance “
